Andrew Castle is one of Britain’s most versatile and accomplished broadcasting personalities, with a career spanning professional sport, television journalism, national breakfast television and radio. Equally at home interviewing world leaders or commentating on the drama of Wimbledon, he has built a reputation as an intelligent, engaging and consummate communicator.

Before entering broadcasting, Andrew enjoyed a distinguished career as a professional tennis player. A former British No. 1, he represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992, and played in all four Grand Slam Championships.

Retiring from professional tennis in 1992, Andrew embarked on a broadcasting career that would take him from the television studio to the heart of British national life. He spent ten years presenting GMTV, Britain’s leading breakfast television programme, interviewing an extraordinary range of people. His guests have included presidents and prime ministers, dictators, criminals, movie stars and rock gods — a remarkable cross-section of humanity that reflects the breadth of his journalistic experience.

Andrew subsequently established himself as a familiar and trusted voice on radio, hosting his own programmes on both LBC and Smooth Radio, covering everything from politics and current affairs to entertainment and culture.

For more than two decades, he was the leading voice of the BBC’s Wimbledon coverage, commentating on the men’s singles finals from 2003 to 2026. His first-hand knowledge of elite tennis, combined with his ability to convey the excitement and significance of the occasion, made him an integral part of the Championships for millions of viewers. Andrew commentated on every final played by Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray.

Never afraid to embrace a challenge, Andrew also took to the dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing, surviving seven weeks of sequins, samba and scrutiny before his elimination.
