Jane is the presenter of BBC News 24's lunchtime programming, 11am to 2pm weekdays, alongside Matthew Amroliwala. On BBC1 she presents the One o'clock news, Six o'clock news, and weekend bulletins. Her professional life in 2007 has been dominated by the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Jane flew to Portugal the day the news came through that a British child was missing in the Algarve, spent much of May there, and conducted the BBC's first interview with Kate and Gerry McCann. She has been back several times since, and fronted News 24's coverage of the family's return to Britain in September.
Jane has covered numerous other stories for the channel, including the 2007 floods in Hull, and Hurricane Katrina, from New Orleans and Texas. She reported from Washington DC in the aftermath of September 11th 2001, and from Ground Zero on the first anniversary of the attacks.
Jane worked in radio for 10 years before moving into television, and has presented programmes including the Midday News and Drive on Radio 5 Live.
She has a Politics degree from London University, and worked on Capitol Hill after graduation in 1991.
Jane is a keen supporter of the arts, particularly theatre, and an equally enthusiastic patron of London's finest gastropubs.
