David Bond is currently the BBC's Sports Editor which he joined in March 2010. His main focus for the next 2 years will be on fronting and overseeing BBC News' coverage of the London 2012 Olympics.
He attended Wallington County Grammar School in Surrey. This was followed by reading History at Southampton University. He also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Sports Law from King's College, London.
David started work as a trainee reporter with South London Press in 1996. In 1998 he joined the London Evening Standard as general sports reporter and was promoted to Sports News Correspondent. In 2002 he left to join the Sunday Times as Sports News Reporter before returning to the Standard in 2004 as Deputy Sports Editor.
He joined the Daily Telegraph in February 2006 as Football News Correspondent before being promoted to Sports News Correspondent later that year. He was promoted to Sports Editor in April 2008 overseeing a team of 60 staff.
During his editorship Telegraph Sport won a series of prestigious industry awards: Sports Newspaper of the Year 2009 at the Sports Industry Awards and four awards at the Sports Journalism Awards, including Scoop of the Year and Best Team Coverage of the Year.
David has covered three summer Olympics and three football world cups, two rugby world cups and countless world and European championship events in other sports.
More recently since joining the BBC he has fronted the world cup coverage on bbc news last summer, the Fifa corruption scandal and recently broke the story about the collapse of the Olympic stadium legacy deal.
